Abbot Thich Phuoc Quang is a Veteran South Vietnamese Army Medical Corps Commanding Officer of field hospital and medical battalion commander at the Military school of medicine. He was a Professor and deputy Chairman at the Civilian School of Medicine. He was an immigrant to the US in 1975. Then, resumed the practice of medicine in 1976 in West Texas, eventually moving to San Antonio in 1978. He was also a Clinical Associate Professor at UTHSCSA and private practice of Family Medicine and Geriatrics.
He became Abbot at Bao Quang Buddhist Temple NE San Antonio (2002-2007). In 2007, he built the Phuoc Hue San Antonio Buddhist Temple.
